Robotic Prostatectomy

It is a minimally invasive surgery where the surgeon removes the entire prostate gland and surrounding lymph nodes through small "keyhole" incisions. Yes. One of the biggest advantages of robotic prostatectomy is the "Nerve-Sparing" technique. The robotic system's precision allows the surgeon to carefully peel away and preserve the delicate neurovascular bundles (nerves responsible for erections and urinary control) surrounding the prostate, leading to a much faster and better functional recovery.

Following the procedure, a urinary catheter will be placed to allow the new connection between the bladder and urethra to heal, which is usually removed after 7 to 10 days. Patients are encouraged to walk the day after surgery. Light activities can be resumed within a week, and full normal activities within 3 to 4 weeks.

Most men diagnosed with localized prostate cancer (cancer that has not spread outside the prostate gland) are excellent candidates. It may also be recommended for patients with a severely enlarged prostate (BPH) that cannot be treated with other methods.
