Prostate Cancer Treatment

Prostate cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in men. When detected early, it is highly treatable. Our dedicated uro-oncology team utilizes the latest diagnostic tools and minimally invasive surgical techniques to provide the highest standard of care and ensure optimal recovery.

What are the symptoms of prostate cancer?

Prostate cancer is initially asymptomatic, but in later stages, it can present with obstruction to urine flow. Patients may also have blood in the urine. In more advanced cases, the patient may experience pain in the bones of the body.

How can we detect prostate cancer?

Prostate cancer can be detected through evaluation by a uro-cancer surgeon. Initially, a PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) test is ordered. If the results are out of range, an MRI of the prostate is performed. If the suspicion of cancer is high, the surgeon will perform a prostate biopsy, which is the confirmatory test.

What is the best treatment for prostate cancer?

The best treatment for localized prostate cancer is a complete curative robotic or laparoscopic resection of the cancer-affected prostate along with the removal of draining lymph nodes. This advanced surgery is relatively bloodless and painless, allowing patients to return to normal life faster.

How much time is needed for recovery from this treatment?

Generally, patients can resume a normal life within three to four weeks of the surgery. Because the procedure is performed using minimally invasive techniques (robotic/laparoscopy), it is less painful, blood loss is minimal, and recovery is significantly faster than traditional open surgery.

What is the quality of life after this treatment?

Patients generally maintain a very good quality of life after this surgery. With nerve-sparing techniques during robotic surgery, urinary control and sexual function are highly preserved. Patients are advised and encouraged to lead a completely functional work and personal life.

How to prevent prostate cancer?

Maintaining a healthy, physically active lifestyle is essential for the prevention of prostate cancer and overall prostate health. A balanced diet, regular exercise, and maintaining a healthy and normal reproductive life contribute significantly to preventing prostate diseases.
